theeohseesOne of the biggest and most prominent garage bands to emanate from the US since the style became re-aligned with mainstream culture in the early 2000’s, Thee Oh Sees are one of the genre’s hardest working acts; regularly churning out well received albums of forward thinking, psych tinged rock and roll.

Refusing to slow down as they approach elder statesmen status, they have released two new tracks in the form of ‘Withered Hand’ and ‘The Ceiling’.

Opening with ominous and foreboding bass chords that recant conjure similar emotions to much of Nick Cave’s material, ‘Withered Hand’ is soon engulfed by an onslaught of frenzied, post punk influenced guitars and enraged vocals.

‘The Ceiling’ is a very different composition altogether, led by Beatles-esque melodies and soothing synths. Different from the aggression of ‘Withered Hand’ to an almost startling degree, it features textures that would’ve been eligible for inclusion on the now defunct Girls’ Father, Son, Holy Ghost LP.

Whilst the former is set to be released upon the band’s upcoming album Mutilator Defeated At Last on May 18th via Castle Face,The Ceiling’ has been recorded on Joyful Noise’s 50 Bands & A Cat For Indiana Equality compilation, available from today here.
