The band: The Twilight Sad have been a constant force in the Scottish music scene for years now, since their debut album back in 2007. 2014 will see the group release their fourth studio album Nobody Wants To Be Here and Nobody Wants To Leave, set for release in late October. This could well be the album that announces them as a global force.
The sound: New single ‘Last January’ follows tradition by being downbeat – it wouldn’t be The Twilight Sad if it wasn’t. The name offers connotations of winter, and the sound evokes that feeling too. The vocals from James Graham are as ever top notch, so just sit back and let yourself fall into the sound until you are fully immersed in their dark and haunting world. They recently popped into TTV HQ and played a few tracks from their upcoming album including ‘Last January’. You can view the session here.
The lowdown: Nobody Wants To Be Here and Nobody Wants To Leave will be released on the 27th October on Fat Cat Records. The band have a few dates in the UK before they head off around the USA and Canada, then they’ll be back in Glasgow on the 19th December for a show at the 02 ABC.
