AHEAD of the show at The Hug and Pint (16th February), The Wooden Sky have unveiled a beautiful new track called ‘You’re Not Alone’.

With airs of psychedelia and intricate layers of instrumentation, the innovative composition finds the Toronto outfit in mesmerising form as they gear up for the release of their fifth album, Swimming In Strange Waters. Reflective and melancholic in its opening verses, the track takes a turn on the chorus with a flush of electronics and bright melodies. Gavin Gardner’s heartfelt delivery is elevated by the textured production which surrounds it; layers of strings, guitars and the warm glow of a harmonica seeing the track out in more uplifting fashion.

With the new album said to match themes of personal trauma against the bleak political climate we find ourselves in, the track is perhaps more uplifting than we’d expect; frontman and multi-instrumentalist Gavin Gardner offering a glimpse of dreamy optimism through the surrounding chaos.

Said to be one of their most experimental albums to date, Swimming In Strange Waters is due for release on 7th April.
