CALICO are a five-piece from Brighton who combine jazz, electronica, rock, prog and a host of other elements to create a form of musical wandering. They have just released their first video for the track ‘Fold A Winning Hand’, which will feature on their upcoming debut EP due out on the 19th October.
The track takes you on an unpredictable journey, with the opening guitar riff barely even hinting at the song that it evolves into. The free-flowing style of it never becomes too whimsical though, as you are purposefully led through a story of moods and emotions.
Turn the volume up on this track, fall into the music, and revel in the musicianship and dexterity of the band.
The EP contains two other unique songs, ‘Euphorism’ and ‘Rogue’, and also a variation of ‘Euphorism’ featuring Beth Cannon on vocals. It is a short but exciting first offering from a band with great potential.
They are set to head out on a European tour with label mates Luo and Alarmist this October, which will conclude in London.
