05042E30ONE of the many events in Glasgow’s bursting music calendar, ‘Live At Glasgow’ (previously Stag & Dagger) is to deliver a line-up of both established and upcoming bands in various venues this coming Sunday. Taking place on 3rd May 2015, we’ve selected an excellent crop of bands who are a must see attraction at this weekend’s inner city festival.

Catholic Action are one band that gained a great deal of momentum over the course of late 2014 and have carried on strong throughout this year. Led by the multi faceted Chris Mcrory, Catholic Action’s unique blend of slacker pop and elements of 70’s glam rock have seen them go from strength to strength. Recently releasing some excellent new material on their Fuzzkill-released split EP with Poor Things; use Live At Glasgow as a chance to catch the band that every insider is raving about.

Fresh from recording a live session at TTV HQ (watch below), Caithness lads Neon Waltz have sold out King Tuts more than once and are embarking on a packed schedule as the summer festival touring begins. Set to play at Brew on the Bog on Saturday 2nd May, the band will head to Glasgow for a set which is sure to be packed. Finding themselves in the Official Vinyl Album Chart top ten with their EP last week alongside Sex Pistols and Stones Roses; believe the hype.

Perpetually buzzworthy since erupting onto the scene in 2014; London’s Palace have released a steady stream of excellent material, beginning with last year’s Lost In The Night EP, and continuing with the equally superb ‘Kiloran.’ An offkilter mixture of blues and more chart bothering rock, they are one of the most exciting acts to emanate from the UK capital in the past few years. Catch an intimate live show before they go stratospheric.

Leaving throngs of fans in awe after their performances in support of Will Butler, Glasgow’s WHITE are a band that have been much speculated upon, given their enigmatic nature and deletion of their music from youtube and soundcloud. Remaining extremely coy with their material and shying away from the public eye, they have both the industry and those who’ve caught them live clamouring for more of their distinctive sound; falling somewhere between the excess of early Roxy Music and the revolutionary sound of Talking Heads.

A songwriter who emits early signs of possessing  the deftness of legends such as Billy Joel & Randy Newman, Tobias Jesso Jr’s Goon is widely regarded as one of the year’s finest albums. Making his maiden voyage to the country, Jesso Jr is sure to enthrall revelers with his piano led compositions that contain both ornate beauty and heartrending sorrow.

Harnessing the spirit of 60’s psychedelia and the pungency of The Doors during their LA Woman period, YAK have the music industry abuzz, appearing to be one of the breakout acts of the year. With their debut EP Plastic People set to be released in the near future, be sure to check them out and see why there’s so much fuss sorrounding the three piece.

An act that have found themselves working with a number of legendary figures within the industry including the incomparable Glyn Johns, The Staves are a trio of sisters with friends in high places. Armed with a beautiful sound that is both emotive and sumptuous, they’re sure to deliver an outstanding set.

Returning to Glasgow following the success of their debut album Lacuna, Childhood are set to perform their immersive dream pop to an uproarious audience. Rounding off 2014 by supporting the pioneer that is Johnny Marr, expect them to deliver a tremendous set.

Undoubtedly one of the most progressive and intriguing acts to emerge from Manchester’s ever innovative musical scene, Art rock outfit Dutch Uncles have established themselves as as an extremely consistent group on account of their two well received LPs.  Having underwent something of a hiatus following 2013’s excellent Out Of Touch In The Wild; they returned with the amazing O Shudder. Catch tracks from the two previous releases and their latest during their 02 ABC 2 headlining show.

The headline act of this year’s event, Edinburgh’s Django Django will bring their exhilarating sound to the 02 ABC. With the gig taking place a day before the release of their second record, expect to hear a healthy assortment of new material alongside many of the track that made their debut album so special.
