IN this latest edition of Radar Spotlight, we turn our attention to Glasgow-based alt-rockers Plasticine.
The band’s combination of huge choruses and surging, overdriven guitars is sure to go down a storm when they make their TENEMENT TRAIL debut next month. Spearheaded by Summer Skye, the band are all about noise, melody and attitude – full of 90s grungy influences, infectious pop melodies and alt-rock dynamics.
And recently signed to Marshall Live Agency, you can expect to see a lot more of the four-piece up and down the country n the near future. But before that, come see what all the fuss is about at TENEMENT TRAIL.

TELL ME A BIT ABOUT YOU AND HOW DID YOU START?
Summer Skye (Singer/Songwriter): Well, we’re Plasticine and we were born in 2022. I’ve been playing music since I was 12, thanks to my mum’s ’80s band, The Wiseacres. I always thought it was pretty cool watching my boss ass bitch mother cause it in a punk rock band (on videos) and then in real life just before my teens when they got back together. I wanted to be like her but I wanna do it my own way. So, I first met Connah when he sent me the most hilarious CV to join my band.
Connah (Bass): Yeah, and I’ll admit, the “CV” as Summer refers to it, was a total laugh riot. Somehow, it worked, though! Soon after, I introduced my brother, Bob.
Bob (Lead Guitar): And Ross? Well, he sort of just showed up.
Ross (Drums): We released our debut single in December 2022 and have since released 3 tracks into the world and we’re absolutely loving the plaster scene. We’re having the best time and looking forward to what’s next.
WHO ARE YOU INFLUENCED BY?
(Summer Skye): We all have pretty different taste in music so, we’re wide and varied. I grew up listening to the likes of David Bowie, Carole King, The Velvet Underground, Pixies, New Order, The Undertones, A Tribe Called Quest, PJ Harvey, the list goes on…
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST MOMENT AS A BAND SO FAR?
Selling out our first two headline shows means the absolute world to us. It’s a huge milestone that we cherish.

WHAT IS YOU FAVOURITE FESTIVAL MEMORY?
We all went to TRNSMT 2022 together and had a class time. Paolo and The Strokes in the same weekend? Simply iconic.
WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU GOT COMING UP?
(Summer Skye): We’re supporting Declan Welsh at Drygate on 22nd September, looking forward to that and we’ll be heading to Aberdeen for the first time for AGP’s Christmas gig on 2nd December. We’ve just signed with Marshall Live Agency as our booking agent too, so we’re mega excited to play our music all over the world now. Im always writing, so I’m sure we’ll have some new music soon too.
