a Tenement Trail 2014
WHILE
we’ve already outlined the bands that fans of rock ‘n’ roll and dance/synth pop should be taking in at Tenement Trail, we’ve decided that it’s time to shed some light on the bands that harbour a more defiant and confrontational edge. We’re of course referring to our stellar line-up of bands that fall under the category of alternative/punk and are set to launch a delightful assault upon our ears tomorrow.

An incendiary group that seem entirely driven and unbending in getting their message across, Ultras ply their trade in hard edged and at times politically charged rock ‘n’ roll that is as propulsive as you would imagine. as evidenced by ‘The Path To Getting Paid’, their set is most certainly not one to gaze at passively.

Set time-4:00-4:30pm, Broadcast

Immovably eclectic in their approach, Tribal High have gained a reputation for creating some of the most off kilter and perplexing music to have came out of Glasgow for many a year. Melding this ideology with immense ability in both their lyricism and instrumentation, tracks such as ‘Scum’ and ‘Climbing The Walls’ are demonstrative of the clear dichotomies in the band’s psyche.

Stage time: 6 45-7:15pm, Flat 0/1

Re-purposing the sound of bygone eras such as 90’s alt-rock and masterfully presenting them for today’s generation, there’s no denying just how much Pinact have impressed with debut LP Stand Still And Rot. Known on both sides of the Atlantic and more than capable of delivering an unflinching and visceral set, check out ‘Scars’ below and prepare to be left in awe.

Set time: 7:30-8:00pm, O2 ABC 2

Rising from what was once Algernon Doll and venturing to the states in order to record with the incomparable Steve Albini, WOMPS are a band that have certainly got a lot of traction as they make their way home to Glasgow for Tenement Trail. Meshing their poppier sensibilities with dense walls of magnificently scuzzy guitar, check out ‘Live A Little Less’ and prepare for an impressive set
