THIS OCTOBER, Tenement Trail returns for another incredible day of live music in Glasgow’s East End. Taking over legendary venues like the Barrowlands, Saint Luke’s and popular spaces like BAaD and Van Winkle, 2024 marks ten iconic years of the festival anf festival-goers can expect another exciting and eclectic line-up, headed up by the likes of Declan Welsh & The Decadent West, SLIX, VLURE, Parliamo, Neon Waltz, Bottle Rockets, Lacuna and more.
Since it first began in 2013, Tenement Trail has established itself as Scotland’s biggest and best festival for music discovery. Over the years, we’ve seen some of the finest talent in the UK take on Trail, from established veterans to hotly tipped artists to brand new local bands, and the festival now boasts a highly impressive alumni of acts who have gone onto great success. Whether you’re looking to check out the next big thing or support local talent, Tenement Trail is definitely the place to be.
Ahead of the festival’s return, we’re taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at the 2024 acts who have dropped by TTV HQ to deliver a memorable live session. We’ve followed these artists since the very formative stages of their career, capturing them as burgeoning artists on the rise – now they’re coming back to TRAIL at the top end of the bill to play our biggest stages.
Declan Welsh & The Decadent West
No better place to start than with our headliner Declan Welsh & The Decadent West. Having appeared at the very first TENEMENT TRAIL as a solo artist in 2014, the frontman popped by TTV HQ will full band in tow a few years later in 2018 to deliver an iconic cover of Pulp’s ‘Babies’. Lending his inimitable Glaswegian drawl and post-punk stylings to the nineties hit, it still sounds just as fresh even now. Since then, he’s garnered a huge following, released two critically acclaimed albums and headlined the Barras. Now he’s back on 12th October to headline the festival where it all started.
Neon Waltz
Neon Waltz made the pilgrimage from John O’Groats to deliver a stand-out TTV session back in 2015. One of the most hyped bands of that year, they performed three of their earlier tracks ‘Bare Wood Aisles’, ‘Between Them All’ and ‘Perfect Frame’ – becoming one of our most-watched sessions at the time. Now with two albums to their name, they return to TRAIL to headline St Lukes this year.
VLURE
Fast forward a few years to 2023 and we have VLURE. Dropping by TTV HQ at the end of last year, they brought heaps of energy and showed exactly why they’re one of the most exciting live bands in the UK right now. A formidable live act, watch them perform their big hits like ‘This Fantasy’, ‘Cut It’ and ‘Shattered Faith’ below – and expect a huge show when they headline BAaD on the 12th October.
