SINGER-songwriter Cara Rose gives us an update on life in lockdown ahead of her performance on Nordoff Robins’ Stream 4 Scotland event next Saturday.
What’s the last thing you said in the band WhatsApp?
“In my group chat with ma boys Stephen and Ali I said ‘cba with this workout’. Ha! I did get the finger out and do it, but i’m sure we can all relate to that mood.”
How do you feel about the current state of the world and the effect it will have on the music industry?
“My feelings towards the current situation change everyday. I’m very much living an emotional rollercoaster right now, as i’m sure we all are. These are scary/uncertain times and I can’t say for certain how this will effect the music industry. I know the live side of it has taken a big hit as that’s on hold, which takes away the majority of artists income.”
What 5 bands/artists are on your isolation playlist?
“What I listen to each day changes like my mood. However, a solid in my music library has been Bob Marley. I put on his album ‘Exodus’ most days. The messages and themes in his lyrics just preach love, positivity and unity. All things we must remember most in these times. Bob has been a musical meditation for me. I just can’t be sad while listening to his music. Most days I am listening to a ‘Disco Fever’ playlist on Spotify which pumps me up during my daily exercise routine. To name a few classics in the playlist, ‘It’s Raining Men’ by The Weather Girls, ‘I Feel Love’ by Donna Summer and ‘Pull Up To The Bumper’ by Grace Jones. They definitely get the hips moving. Some Amy Winehouse and Harry Styles, too.”
When the world gets back to normal what’s the first thing you are going to do?
“As soon as I’m aloud I really just want to be able to hug my da and all my friends. Being away from loved ones is torture. Oh, and buy a nice cold pint from an actual pub. That’ll be real nice.”
What’s next for you career-wise?
“We have a few singles coming out over the next few months followed by an EP at the end of the year. So just pushing forward with releasing music and then getting another headline gig sorted to celebrate when all this is over!”
