DUNFERMLINE-based indie artist Amy Lou starts a week of online Pride events today, celebrating the diverse music scene in Scotland and beyond.

With so many festivals and events cancelled this summer, the singer has put together a week of online content to celebrate the spirit of Pride month and to fill the gap left by the cancellations.

Amy Lou’s Big Pride Doo will run from Monday 29th June-Saturday 4th July and will kick off tonight with a series of interviews and live performances on their Instagram  (@not_you_amy_lou) with musicians and creators who are part of the LGBTQ+ community from across the UK.

Thursday night will feature a podcast with LGBTQ+ women in the industry discussing their experiences and much more. Hosted by Katie Guthrie of Underground Sounds, guests will include Amy Lou, photographer Kayleigh Bissett, manager Cathie Balmer and music business student Charmaine Hardman.

There will be a limited edition merch sale on Friday with all proceeds going to LGBT Youth Scotland before the week ends with a full live live performance from Amy Lou streamed through Fife Pride’s socials.

Amy Lou said with the announcement ” I spend a lot of time talking about adversity , I’ve spent a long time quietly wanting other queer voices like mine to come together in harmony and be heard , I’ve spent a long time wanting something but never actually doing anything to change it …. but I think I’ve arrived at the answer now at what I can do

For obvious reasons this years physical prides have been cancelled , but the message, spirit , and history behind pride month should never be silenced . So next week I’m using my platform , although it may not be the biggest , to shine a light on a whole plethora of amazing LGBTQ+ musicians , artists , creators , change makers , and believers from across the UK and I will bring them to your attention.

At the end of the week I have a really special line of merch created entirely for this project that will go on sale with all profits going to LGBT Youth Scotland , an organisation that does so much amazing work for young people like me , and it wouldn’t be Pride season without playing a set for Fife Pride , so a wee exclusive live show will be streamed through their socials!

stay safe and have a happy pride,
Amy Lou x”
