THE Amy Winehouse Foundation have organised a special global covers contest in celebration of the tenth anniversary of her seminal Back To Black LP.
Possible through the cooperation of Island Records, the world famous label have released a new series of lyric videos of classic numbers ‘Just Friends’, ‘Tears Dry On Their Own’, ‘Rehab’ and its title track with a link for fans to download the original Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi backing tracks.
Enabling admirers to upload their own versions of the tracks to Youtube in tribute to the late artist and her most enduring body of work, the covers will be judged by none other than the two aforementioned producers and the eventual winner will have their performance recorded and filmed in a studio before premiering on Island Records’ official channel.
Set up in order to assist young people and aid in the fight against social issues such as addiciton, homelessness, mental health stigma and unemployment, all funds raised by the contest will be donated straight to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
