THE first headline act for next year’s Isle Of Wight Festival has been revealed as none other than Canadian alt-rockers Arcade Fire.
Scheduled to be not only the band’s first voyage to a UK-based event since the Reflektor era of 2014, organisers at the historic festival have also declared the booking as an exclusive and will be the only festival that they’ll play on these shores during next summer.
With speculation running rampant around when we can expect their latest album to emerge, the hype has intensified in the past week after the band played a series of intimate shows and brought several new compositions to fans for the very first time.
Taking place between the 8th-11th June, the festival’s John Giddings has spoke of his elation about the booking of the ever-evolving group and lavishes praise on a dearly departed musical icon for first bringing them to his attention:
‘I’m so happy to have secured Arcade Fire as out first headliner, David Bowie recommened them to and I’ve been a fan ever since.’
