ARCTIC MONKEYS have announced plans to reissue Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not on vinyl.

The seminal debut album that plucked the young Sheffield-based indie rock upstarts from obscurity and ignited their rise to worldwide acclaim and superstardom, the record that brought them to the fore will be redistrubuted on special ‘smoke vinyl.’

With speculation around their forthcoming new record pointing towards a release in May ahead of what is a hectic festival schedule, those that wish to hark back to the band’s youthful coming of age and own the limited pressing of the album can do so via signing up to subscription service of Vinyl Me, Please.

Set to arrive alongside a 16 page booklet, Head Of Music at VMP Cameron Schaefer has said of the new reissue:

“There was this period in the early 2000s after ‘Is This It’ came out, when the Strokes, Kings of Leon, and Arctic Monkeys were at various points of their arc, where it felt like rock n’ roll was going to be OK. There were these three bands that felt like they could be really huge, and be a big deal.”
