ARCTIC Monkeys have revealed the new video for the second track from their forthcoming fifth album AM.
Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High? is an outstanding track with strong hip hop influences shining through its beat. The video, directed by Nabil, sees a drunk Alex Turner leave the rest of the band behind in a bar to seek out a 4am booty call. As he travels down the road towards the house of the girl he is texting, he is fraught with highly-sexual hallucinations and encounters unsavoury characters.
The new release, featuring Alex Turner on lead vocals, oozes a Dr Dre inspired sound and is extremely different to the previous style of the Monkeys. Turner previously claimed that there was a rap and hip hop influence on the album, saying one song sounds like Dr Dre.
Their fifth album is due to drop later next month. Arctic Monkeys will headline Electric Picnic festival in Ireland in August as their long stint at festivals around the world continues through August.
