THE longlist for BBC’s Sound Of 2018 has been unveiled.

Spanning a myriad of genres, scenes and niches, this comprehensive list of artists from across Britain was compiled by a crack team of 173 critics, broadcasters and DJ’s and other industry figures with the eventual winner set to be announced on 12th January on Radio 1.

Consisting of 16 artists, Scotland is represented by none other than singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi whose meteoric rise has been one of the nation’s biggst musical success stories of the year.

Tom Walker also finds himself on the list. Lewis Capaldi and Tom Walker are nominees at the forthcoming SSE Scottish Music Awards which takes place on 2nd December in Glasgow and will celebrate the Scottish music industry.

Other notable names that have made their way on to the list include the idiosyncratic R&B artist known as Rex Orange County, alternative outfit Pale Waves and Tenement Trail 2017 alumni Sam Fender.
