CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN have announced details of their new album The Ride, which will be the follow-up to their debut album The Balcony.
The new album will be released on 27th May 2016, with a full tracklisting and artwork unveiled earlier today.
The album was written by Van McCann and produced by D Sardy in LA and features a total of 11 songs. The band have said that they tried to record the album at any opportunity during down time on tour.
Lead singer Van McCann said the band didn’t want to be too “arty and different”: “We wanted to stay inside the box. I always say if you can play it on an acoustic guitar and win over a bar or kitchen even of rowdy people, then you’ve done it. That’s how I see songwriting.”
The band have posted the video to new track ‘Soundcheck’, with McCann mentioning that “the last album was the support band, or even the soundcheck, and this one’s the headliner”.
Catfish and the Bottlemen won a BRIT Award for The Balcony earlier in the year. The band will play a UK tour, which sold out in four minutes, before the album release in April. They will kick off the tour at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on 4th April, before playing London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on 11th April and ending the tour at Brighton Dome the day after.
