THE full programme for this year’s Celtic Connections has been announced and will see upwards of 2500 musicians descend upon Glasgow including Robert Plant and The Unthanks.

Taking place every January, this year’s event will take place over the course of 18 days and will feature countless concerts, ceilidhs and various other displays.

Among the musicians taking part are esteemed and globally recognised artists such as Rachel Sermanni, Rickie Lee James, Karine Polwart and many more.

Admiral Fallow, Eddi Reader and Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire are also among the Scottish acts set to perform.

Artistic director Donald Shaw has said of this year’s festivities: “For 2016, we are bringing superstars and cult heroes, new talent, and artists who were legends long before the first Celtic Connections was staged.

“This year we weave stories of pilgrimage, of crossing continents, we celebrate anniversaries and the Auld Alliance.”
