PRS For Music and the PRS Foundation have announced a new contest which will enable bands to compete for a spot on the bill at the world renowned Glastonbury Festival.

Arguably the most iconic annual music event to take place on British soil, the Emerging Talent Competition will provide up-and-coming talent from the UK and Ireland to vie for a spot on one of its main stages.

In addition to a spot on the prestigious bill, winners will also be provided with a £5000 development prize while two runners-up will be awarded £2,500.

Previous alumni of the initiative include Izzy Bizu, Declan McKenna and last year’s victors She Drew The Gun.

The entry process is very straightforward, with artists only needing to submit one original track via Soundcloud and a link to themselves performing live although organisers have stressed that even footage shot in a bedroom will be eligible for consideration.

Submissions will be open from Monday 30th January at 9am until Monday 6th February via the festival’s website.
