FOLLOWING an incredibly successful showcase in 2018, Creative Scotland will once again travel south to Brighton, bringing with them 10 of the most exciting bands in Scotland, for ‘Showcasing Scotland’ at the Great Escape 2019.

Hosted by BBC Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Showcasing Scotland will take over Brighton’s One Church of Thursday 9th and Friday 10th of May with two showcases that are bursting with homegrown talent. Thursday’s lineup features two of the standout stars of the TTV Discover Tour, ALLIGATOR and Walt Disco, alongside Aaron Smith, Cloth, with the show rounded off by Glasgow punks Heavy Rapids. Friday features an incredibly diverse lineup that includes Tamzene, TTV Discover Tour favourites OK Button, Lucia, Kobi Onyame and TRNSMT stars The Snuts.

Creative Scotland’s Jamie Houston, said: “As the UK’s largest gathering of music industry, The Great Escape is a taste-making festival attended by music industry delegates from across the globe on the hunt for the next big thing. From hip-hop to alt-rock this year’s Scottish line-up showcases the strength and diversity of talent across a variety of genres, all of whom are ready to take the next step in their careers. Working with our partners Wide Days, the Scottish showcases and networking reception provide an important opportunity for our home-grown musical talent to gain national and international exposure.  Importantly these opportunities can lead to future income, either through subsequent tour bookings, festival invitations or record-release deals for international markets.”

Ahead of the two showcases, Creative Scotland and Wide Days will host the Scottish Networking Reception. This is an incredible opportunity for music fans and festival delegates to meet figures from the Scottish music industry, and the acts who are featuring at the Showcasing Scotland shows. Co-director of Wide Days, Olaf Furniss, said “Over the past two years we have hosted two of the busiest receptions at The Great Escape connecting the delegates from around the world with each other, the Scottish music industry and an exquisite mixture of malt whisky, deep fried Mars bars and haggis. We can’t wait to return to Brighton next month!”

The Showcasing Scotland shows form only part of the Scottish contingent at this year’s Great Escape. Hope and Ruin plays host to Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, VanIves, Carla J Easton and Marc McGowan on Wednesday 8th of May, with The Ninth Wave, The Van T’s and Wuh Oh also heading to The Great Escape.
