A NEW Daft Punk documentary, Daft Punk Unchained, is set to be aired in June by the BBC and will feature guest appearances from star names including Nile Rodgers, Kanye West and Giorgio Moroder.
It will air on 24th June 2015 via French station Canal + and will also include interviews with recent collaborators including Michel Gondroy and Paul Williams. The artist Leiji Matsumoto will also feature, as will the duo’s ex manager, Pedro Winter.
The documentary will be the first ever made about the French dance music legends – real names Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter – and will be directed by Herve Martin Delpierre. A theme song composed by Joseph Trapanese, who worked with Daft Punk on the score for Tron: Legacy, will also feature.
The documentary will tell of the band’s rise from the Paris underground scene right up to their recent release of Random Access Memories and the subsequent Grammy awards which followed. It will feature “extracts from interviews with Daft Punk (archives from 1996 to 2013), rare documents and exclusive interviews with their friends and closest collaborators”. It is not yet known whether Daft Punk themselves will feature.
