Gorillaz_35recent appearance on BBC Radio 6 appearance from Damon Albarn saw the legendary Gorillaz figurehead give a longed after progress report on their upcoming record.

Previously described by collaborator Jamie Hewlett as ‘really fucking special’ and earmarked for a 2017 release at the latest, it’s now been revealed that things are beginning to accelerate faster than the artist had indicated.

Briefly venturing into the subject during an interview about his soundtrack for Channel 4’s ‘Swim The Channel’ documentary, Albarn has stated that ‘Later in the year we’ll be starting to get the whole Gorillaz thing together’ and it’ll be out ‘fairly soon.’

With guest stars artists such as French electronica trailblazer Jean Michael Jarre, songwriter Liam Bailey  and SaveMoney MC Vic Mensa expected to be featured on the record, the famed singer/songwriter also made it known that he’s ‘loving’ the music that’s being produced.
