SUMMER SESSIONS have announced details of two huge events next year.

The annual festival – which is usually held in Glasgow and Edinburgh – will be making its highly anticipated return next year, and organisers have confirmed it will be expanding.

The city of Dundee will be welcoming its first ever Summer Session next year at Slessor Gardens, with Noel Gallagher & The High Flying Birds set to be the first act to headline the new event. Taking place at the city’s iconic waterfront, the former Oasis man will be joined by indie high-risers Inhaler. More artists are to be confirmed.

Mark Flynn, convener of Dundee City Council’s city development committee, said: “The success of the concerts that have been staged at Slessor Gardens so far, and its place as a fantastic venue to see bands of all types, has attracted interest from a wide variety of promoters.

“I am delighted to see the diary slots available for next summer filling up fast with top class acts like Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, that are bound to fire the public’s imagination and get them turning out in their thousands.”

Geoff Ellis, DF Concerts CEO and Summer Sessions Promoter commented, “Dundee is the spiritual home of DF, having started here many moons ago, so we are delighted to return with Summer Sessions and bring some incredible music to the City.

“We are excited and extremely proud to announce Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds as the first ever headliner for Dundee Summer Sessions and we could not wish for a more iconic artist to launch the Festival.”

Pre-sale tickets for Dundee Summer sessions take place on Wednesday November 24 at 9am exclusively for fans who have registered on the website. General sale tickets go on sale on Friday November 26 at 9am.

And if that’s not enough, Edinburgh Summer Sessions have also shared details of their 2022 line-up.

Making its first return to the Ross Bandstand after three years, the likes of Lionel Richie, Michael Kiwanuka, Tom Jones, Simple Minds and Travis – who were all due to appear in 2020 – will all be performing during the event, which will coincide with the first full week of the Fringe.

They will be joined by Simply Red for the week-long event, which commences on 7th August with Richie’s concert while Travis will bring the event to an end on 14th August.

A pre-sale for tickets is opening this Thursday, with tickets on general sale on Friday.
