SCOTTISH radio DJ and presenter Edith Bowman is set to become the only female breakfast show host in the UK.
Set to take up the mantle at the newly relaunched Virgin Radio (which will return to the fray after being re-branded as ‘Absolute Radio for eight years), she’s set to vy for the top spot against Radio X’s Chris Moyles and Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw.
Having made her name on the weekday afternoon and weekend morning shows on Radio 1, Bowman has also been a fixture of the corporation’s festival coverage and recently began hosting ‘The Quay Sessions’, a BBC initiative which provided a platform for Scotland’s burgeoning bands to perform at their Glasgow headquarters.
Joining the newly established team alongside other hosts such as Matt Richardson, Kate Lawler, Jamie East and Tim Cocker, it’ll be interesting to see whether her fresh approach to the morning show will sway listeners away from Moyles and Grimshaw.
