joeTHE first trailer for ‘London Town’; a new film influenced by The Clash and the grassroots punk movement of the 70s, has emerged online.

Based around the time in which Joe Strummer, Mick Jones and Paul Simonon first became underground sensations with their incendiary self-titled debut album, the film is a tale of how one teenager’s life is changed forever when he hears The Clash on a train and soon finds himself heading to London to seek out the band’s frontman.

With British actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers starring as Strummer himself, director Derek Borte has spoke of his reasons behind making the film by claiming that it is set against ‘a backdrop of social political, and racial unrest that is incredibly similar and relevant to what we see happening in the world today’ and that its goal is to ‘illuminate the power that music has to change your life.’

Featuring the music of Toots And The Maytals, Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks and of course The Clash themselves, the film is set for release on the 7th October.
