THE first wave of releases have been announced for Cassette Store Day 2014 including Cloud Nothings, Prides, Lauren Aquilina and Courtney Barnett.

Following the runaway success of the 2013 Cassette Store Day, this year the event will be split into UK and US events. Suplex Cassettes and Kissability labels will look after the UK releases whilst Burger Records will reign in the US.

Alike Record Store Day, Cassette Store Day follows the same concept with partipants and stores encouraged to sign-up and celebrate the cassette.

Among the tapes being put out especially for the day are ‘The History of Apple Pie – Feel Something through Marshall Teller’, a re-release of Courtney Barnett – ‘The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas’ on Kissability alongside Prides and Lauren Aquilina’s duet ‘Strong Enough’. Suplex Cassettes will release five tapes including UV Race’s ‘Greatest Hits’, Fair Ohs – ‘Everything is Dancing/Jungle Cats’, and The Homosexuals – ‘Astral Glamour’.

Among the fans of the cassette are Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream who commented: “Cassette is a cool medium to listen to music on. Warm and fat. Good bottom end. Yeah!”

The London event will be held at Lion Coffee + Records on 27th September. Labels, Stores, and anyone wanting to throw an event have until August 15th to sign up via here.
