AS thousands tuned in from across the globe, For The Love of Scotland raised over £43,000 for essential PPE over a four hour livestream with some of Scotland’s biggest names.

Hosted by Edith Bowman, the event was raising funds for the Masks of Scotland appeal, which has now hit the £197k mark of it’s £200k target after being set up by the University of Dundee’s Prof. Jill Belch. You can donate to here. Edith said, “Masks for Scotlandare desperately trying to raise money for PPE to protect frontline workers. That’s why we’re here, that’s why we’ve got all these amazing people.” The outstanding line-up that included stars from stage and screen was even watched and praised by global star Billie Eilish.

Throughout the 4 hour event, hosted on Gigs in Scotland’s Facebook and YouTube, saw appearance, and performances, from the likes of Alan Cumming, Annie Lennox, Sir Chris Hoy, Karen Gillian, Martin Compton, Simon Neil of Biffy Clyro, Irvine Welsh, Lauren Mayberry of CHVRCHES, James McAvoy, Belle and Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch and many more. Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa also stopped in to confirm that there will be a third season of the popular Netflix show and to praise our National Health Service, saying, ““None of us could have anticipated a pandemic like this, it’s so important what you’re doing Edith to get money to people who need this equipment the most. The NHS is such an amazing thing that we all have in this country, so let’s help them.”
