FRANK OCEAN has announced a new album to be released in July.
The singer took to his personal Tumblr account to share the news, posting the caption “I got two versions. I got twooo versions” along with the hashtags “#ISSUE1, #ALBUM3, #JULY2015, #BOYSDONTCRY” and a photograph of himself next to a pile of magazines titled “Boys Don’t Cry”.
Initial speculation suggested that this was also the album name, but Ocean’s representatives have since said a title is yet to be confirmed. A publication will also be released alongside the album. The famously enigmatic Ocean has maintained a low profile since the release of 2012’s Channel Orange, having deleted both his Instagram and Twitter accounts while only surfacing to share a track in November 2014, “Memrise”.
It was rumoured last year that Ocean was working on the new LP alongside producers Hit-Boy and Rodney Jenkins. Ocean’s studio debut, Channel Orange, went certified gold and also won a Grammy Award for best urban contemporary album. This was a follow up to 2011’s Nostalgia Ultra, a free download mixtape release.
