THE line-up for this year’s The Spree Festival in Paisley has been announced.

Featuring a diverse range of talent that spans all manner of genres and nations, the event; which is now in its sixth year and one of the cornerstones of the town’s 2021 City Of Culture bid, takes place between the 13th-22nd October.

In a move that has became a staple of the event, the festival will be headlined by a special performance from Frightened Rabbit in the gothic surroundings of Paisley Abbey with assistance from none other than the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Having previously worked alongside acts such as The Twilight Sad, Justin Currie and more, it will allow fans to experience the band’s poignant material in a re-imagined state.

In addition to this special performance, The Spree will also play host to artists such as Emma Pollock, RM Hubbert, The Pictish Trail and other affiliates of Lost Map Records at The Art Centre. Twinned with the Rajastan International Folk Festival in this respect, the festival will be opened by a show from homegrown talents Ross Ainslie, Blue Rose Code and Angus Lyon alongside Indian acts Smita Bellur, Asin Khan Langa and Sawai Khan and will celebrate the rich musical history of both nations.

In addition to the acts that have already been announced, the festival are also accepting applications for up-and-coming talent to play the newly minted Danny Kyle Open Stage.

Tickets for all shows will be available from Wednesday 21st June at 9am whilst full line-up and further information can be found here.
