GIGSTAMP has launched this week giving fans of live music a brand new smartphone check-in app.

The social app for fans gives gig-goers a chance to share their gig journey with friends on their social media channels.

Designed by Gordon Duncan from music PR agency APB and developer Dave Taylor from Pogo Kid, GigStamp locates you at a gig and combines your name, the venue, date and band name with your choice of eye-catching artwork to create an individual visual stamp.

This is shared to your Facebook or Twitter and saved to your own collection within the app, building up into a record of your gigging history. It’s a bit like a digital version of saving your ticket stubs.

Version 1 has just been launched for iPhone in the Apple App Store, with Android and Windows versions to come soon. “We’re working on various additions for future releases,” says Gordon.

“You’ll be able to put your own photos into your stamps, and we’ll be opening it up for bands to create stamps for fans at their own shows. It’s about making a check-in more of a part of going out to a gig, showing off a bit about what gigs you’re at and having something cool from it on your timeline. It should also put an end to arguments about whether you did actually see that huge stadium band back when they played the pub round the corner – because GigStamp geo-locates you at the show at the right time, you do have to be there to get a Stamp.”

The app links to the Songkick concerts database, so if you’re in a band and you want to make your gigs available to stamp, just add them at www.songkick.com.

GigStamp is available now, free for iPhone – search the App Store for GigStamp or click here for more details.
