SINGER/SONGWRITER Kathryn Joseph has claimed the top prize at this year’s BAM Awards.
The BAMS (Scottish Blogger And Music Sites) were judged by 31 writers (including TTV staff) and saw over 160 albums be taken into consideration before being whittled down to a top 20.
Comprised of both homegrown talent and international acts, Joseph scooped the accolade for the ethereal Bones You Have Thrown Me And Blood I’ve Spilled; fending off competition ranging from Miaoux Miaoux and CHVRCHES to Kendrick Lamar and Sufjan Stevens.
Speaking in reference to her win and the integral role which Scotland’s blogs and music sites played in her victory, Joseph stated that:
“It’s massive. I mean that’s how anyone hears it or reads about it. At the very beginning to get any feedback at all is amazing. And then to realise that’s how other people discover it. And those are the people you want to like it and who matter.”
