THE LIBERTINES
have made their presence felt today with not only two brand new tracks but the news that they will be pushing their album release date back.

Initially scheduled to surface on the 4th September 2015 via Virgin EMI, the band have made the decision to postpone its emergence thanks to the overwhelming popularity of their ‘Somewhere Over The Railings’ events.

Billed as special listening parties for the new record with all of the proceeds going to Amy Winehouse’s foundation, the events sold out faster than many people could snap up tickets; in particular the party at Glasgow’s McChuills Bar in which stocks lasted little more than half an hour.

In correspondence with their new plans for a ‘week of shenanigans’, Anthems For Doomed Youth will now be released on the 11th September.

In addition to this, this morning has seen the band unveil another new song, this time airing the record’s title track via their YouTube account.

Similar in tone to classics such as ‘Radio America’ and ‘Music When The Lights Go Out’, ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’ is laced with the kind of decadent imagery that is synonymous with their music and structured around the traditional duelling vocals of Pete Doherty and Carl Barat.

Embellishing the track with brief bursts of strings, it is atypical of The Libertines’ style and still manages to sound absolutely vital.
