THE nominees for this year’s Mercury Prize have been revealed and feature artists such as Wolf Alice, C Duncan, Slaves and many more.
As diverse as any Mercury Prize shortlist, this year’s list see bookies favourites Everything Everything notably omitted as well as last year’s winners Young Fathers who appear to have been overlooked for new album White Men Are Black Men Too.
With a judging panel which featured previous nominees Anna Calvi, Corrine Bailey Rae and Nick Mulvey, other albums which made the cut include Jamie XX’s stunning In Colour, Soak’s Before We Forgot To Dream and Syro: the hypnotic comeback LP from ambient pioneer Aphex Twin.
