THE NATIONAL have revealed that the arrival of a new studio album isn’t as far off as once thought.
Having been relatively inactive since the release of 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me, the New York rooted alt-rock group have been steadily working on various solo projects; prompting fans of their dense and deeply emotive music to worry that a new full length may not materialise in the near future.
Looking to put minds at ease, lead singer Matt Berninger has refuted these claims stating that the band have “begun work” on their seventh LP and have “30 sketches of songs.”
In terms of where the inspiration from the record lies, Berninger has announced that the band are taking the monikers of various towns in the New York era as working titles.
With no official dates or rough predictions given regarding when exactly we can expect the record, we’re just relieved to know that they’ve at least begun the creative process.
