A programme that centered upon questions pertaining to popular music from throughout the ages punctuated by witty comments from its opposing teams, it has boasted appearances from a who’s-who of influential and popular musicians from Motorhead’s Lemmy to The Cribs’ Ryan Jarman.

Dating back to 1996 with original host Mark Lamarr, It looked at the world of popular music in a tongue and cheek fashion and never shied away from playfully poking fun at its guests.

A spokesperson for the BBC announced the decision, stating that: “After 28 series’ we’ve decided not to bring Never Mind The Buzzcocks back to the BBC. This will create space for new entertainment formats in the future. We’d like to thank the team at Talkback, Rhod Gilbert, all the brilliant hosts over the years and of course Noel (Fielding) and Phil (Jupitus) for the years of enjoyment they’ve given BBC Two viewers.”
