with JD Twitch and JG Wilkes set to perform all night, the pair spoke of the decision to organise this special night in the following statement on their event page
“Many of us are still reeling from recent events and feel powerless about our futures. What can we do? It would seem not a lot. But, perhaps we need to consider doing more than just expressing our shock and outrage on social media? One of the more insidious side effects of the EU referendum has been that it appears to have legitimised open season for racism in the eyes of a small minority. It is easy to think this is currently an “English disease” but of course racism has always existed everywhere and is, and always has been prevalent in Scotland. We are sure to see a rise in racist incidents here too. The vast majority of Scots are vehemently opposed to racism and warmly welcome immigrants and refugees. We live in communities that have greatly benefited from the diverse influences people from other countries with different cultures have brought here, and we would like to express our standing in total solidarity with them. Being against racism is all very well but we feel we need to be actively anti-racist and fight this fight in whatever way we are able.”
