PAUL MCCARTNEY has began the process of retrieving the rights to a sizable portion of The Beatles’ catalogue from Michael Jackson.

Purchased by the late pop singer three decades ago, the original songwriter of many of the fab four’s most legendary tracks (along with his long-time creative partner John Lennon) will qualify to reclaim the tracks from January 2018.

With Yoko Ono opting to grant the ownership of Lennon’s portion to Sony, McCartney has set the wheels in motion to reclaim 32 songs.

While other parts of the catalogue won’t be eligible to be reacquired until 2025, the batch of tracks that are currently being contested include large portions of the seminal Abbey Road LP.
