David Bowiepetition has been launched to rename Glasgow’s Duke Street after the iconic David Bowie.

With campaigners aiming to rechristen it “Thin White Duke Street”; a nod to The late musician’s 1976 persona,  it could see one of Britain’s largest streets  change its long held name in honour of a true cultural hero.

Launched by the city’s ‘Yellow Movement’ collective that is led by SAMAS winning outfit Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5, they argue that:

“As a city of culture,  music capital of the world and in recognition of the fact that he played the legendary east-end Barrowland Ballroom (not far from Duke Street) on Tuesday 22nd July 1997, The Yellow Movement would like to see his memory immortalised by the changing the street name from Duke Street to Thin White Duke Street.
