Wickerman 2013 gave us Nile Rodgers, Bobby Gillespie and an ‘On Location’ session that we will never forget from The Temperance Movement; and this year’s Wickerman more than proves the festival’s dedication to creating a dynamic event laced in prolific talent.

Asides from the crowd attracting headliners Dizzee Rascal and Del Amitri, this year’s festival brings together the fantastic Martha Reeves and The Vandellas (‘Dancing in the Street, ‘Heatwave’), cult bands Shed Seven, Alabama 3 and British Sea Power.

Further afield from the Main Stage, you’ll find some of Scotland’s best acts from hip-hop outfit Hector Bizerk who were nominated for the SAY Award this year only to lose out to Young Fathers who will also play over the weekend.  Rock ‘n’ roll Glaswegians Tijuana Bibles are also on the bill, fresh from playing to a packed King Tuts tent at T in the Park earlier this month.

Baby Strange have packed a lot in during the past 12 months. Supporting Palma Violets on a UK tour during the Autumn, the band played BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in May and embarked on a headline tour. Their debut single ‘Pure Evil’ received its fair share of critical-acclaim meaning this Scottish garage-rock band are not to missed. You can catch them on the Main Stage.

Wickerman are never short of billing Scotland’s best up-and-coming talent. This year will see the likes of punk kids DEATHCATS, heavy rockers Scary People and four-piece girl band TeenCanteen all play the festival fresh from sets at T in the Park’s T Break stage.

And band of the moment Model Aeroplanes will play the festival’s Main Stage on Saturday 26th July alongside established names including Big Country and The Zombies. Hailing from from Dundee, Model Aeroplanes offer up fresh cut pop in effortless style. Playing together from an early age at school, the band recorded their debut single whilst studying for their higher exams.

Heavily backed by BBC Introducing, LIFE will play one of their only Scottish dates this summer. The indie band submerge their music in jaggy guitar hooks and bass-driven rhythms, landing themselves in the top five spot of The Amazing Radio chart earlier this month. Idlewild legend Roddy Woomble will treat the crowd to tracks from his latest album Listen to Keep. The Scottish singer-songwriter fronted the cult band Idlewild from the mid-nineties and is a great Scottish addition to the Wickerman bill.

The Amazing Snakeheads have continued to ride the controversy wave since the release of their debut album Amphetamine Ballads which has since been accompanied by a trickle of debauchery-filled music videos. The liquidation of the original band formation will see their slot at Wickerman fronted by original member Dale Barclay, Andrew Pattie and Scott Duff. The band are fresh from supporting Jack White and playing topless to a packed BBC Introducing tent at T in the Park.

We will be on-site recording sessions with a selection of this year’s bands. Be sure to follow us on twitter, Facebook and Instagram @tenementtv to check out what we get up to over the weekend.
