prsfoundation1250THE PRS for music foundation have announced that Scottish acts will have access to their showcase fund.

Facilitated by way of a new partnership with Creative Scotland, this new opportunity will allow up-and-coming bands the opportunity to perform in an international capacity as acts from England and Wales are eligible to.

Speaking at length about the new deal, CS head of music Alan Morrison has claimed that “Connecting Scottish talent to the wider world is one of Creative Scotland’s main ambitions, and this new partnership with the International Showcase Fund will allow us to do so at an increased level. We firmly believe that Scottish musicians deserve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the best the world has to offer, and that our up-and-coming acts will be the stars of the future. The International Showcase Fund is the key that will open doors to a wealth of industry platforms at some of the biggest festivals and music events on the calendar.”

Launched in 2013, a report published earlier in the year has revealed that artists who had received showcase funding earned an additional £8.90 for every £1 received.
