RECORD Store Day 2014 kicks-off today, Saturday 19th April, in record stores around the UK. Stores will celebrate independent record shops with limited edition, special and one-off releases on sale exclusively in record stores from a vast selection of iconic and breakthrough acts. Then there’s the list of special free performances going on up and down the country that will ensure Record Store Day 2014 is one to remember.

The official Record Store Day website states a Record Store Day participating store is defined as a physical retailer whose product line consists of at least 50% music retail and whose company is not publicly owned. In other words, we’re dealing with real, live, physical, indie record stores-not online retailers or large corporations- now that’s something work supporting.

Over 200 stores in the UK take part this year, and Glasgow’s Love Music has a packed schedule with acts Fatherson, Stanley Odd, Blood Relatives and Pronto Mama all putting on free performances throughout the day.

Amongst the exclusive releases that Love Music will have on sale is Pictish Trail by Stanley Odd- a new RSD 12 Inch with artwork By Scott Frightened Rabbit, a new CD EP by Pronto Mama,  Electric Honey EP by Harry & The Hendersons of which advanced copies are available exclusively for RSD.
