SINCE its birth in 2007, Record Store Day has enjoyed celebrating the unique culture of independently-owned record stores in both the UK and USA. Record Store Day will take place on Saturday 20th April promoting and valuing the often struggling independent stores.
2013 is set to be the biggest celebration, with meet-and-greets, DJ sets and gigs taking place up and down the country. The launch today will see more than 300 exclusive vinyl releases and special Record Day Singles from the likes of The Twang.
Edinburgh’s Avalanche store will host a gig by Glasvegas who will be playing in-store to promote their Record Store Day single at 14:30. Admiral Fallow will follow with an in-store appearance at 15:30.
Monorail Music in Glasgow will see Vic Godard doing an acoustic set on Record Store Day and will be playing with Davy Henderson, Douglas McIntyre, and Simon Smeeton from the Sexual Objects.
Rubadub Records in Glasgow will be stocking a lot of the RSD exclusive titles as well as running deals on all other vinyl stock for that day. They will also have guest DJ’s and live acts performing throughout the day. So far they have confirmed Dam Mantle, Trevino and Silk Cut.
