RHCP red hot chili peppers

RED Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith posted a photo, later retweeted by the band’s official Twitter page, stating mixing had begun on their new album with renowned producer Nigel Godrich.

Potential collaborator speculation had been rife since word spread that the legendary outfit were working on a follow-up to 2011’s I’m With You.

Godrich is best known for his work producing Atoms For Peace and Radiohead, shaping the sound of classic albums such as OK Computer and Kid A. The Chili Peppers, who earlier this year were also reported to be working with Danger Mouse in the studio, describe the album as a step in a new direction for the band.

Although no release date has been set for the band’s 11th studio album, they are already confirmed to headline a number of festivals over the summer – including T In The Park. They are also among the favourites to join Radiohead in headlining Lollapalooza.
