THE nominees for the 12th annual Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMA) have been revealed, ahead of the official ceremony on Saturday 27th November at Saint Luke’s in Glasgow.

Known for championing the best of Scotland’s finest emerging artists, this year is no different with an eclectic array of rising stars nominated for each category – spanning all corners of the nation’s thriving music scene.

Selected by some of the most influential tastemakers in the country 28 artists have been nominated this year under seven categories – ‘Best Rock’, ‘Best Metal’, ‘Best Acoustic’, ‘Best Hip Hop’, ‘Best Electronic’, ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Live Act’.

Those nominated include MEMES, Spyres, Swim School, Dictator, Rachel Aggs, Andrew Wasylyk, AiiTee, Lizzie Reid, Constant Follower and K4cie – while Bemz and Chef are the recipients of two nominations each.

Voting opens at officialsama.com/vote at 12noon on Monday 8th November 2021 and runs until 5pm Wednesday 10th November 2021.

SAMA 2021 winners will be announced on Saturday 27th November 2021 at Glasgow’s Saint Lukes in a ceremony hosted by acclaimed poet Leyla Josephine and Scotland’s new music champion Jim Gellatly.

The event will include the live return of cult noughties band Union Of Knives as well as performances from avant-trance artist and double SAMA 2020 winner TAAHLIAH and LVRA, recent winner of the Sound Of Young Scotland award.
