The shortlist for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY) awards has been announced, narrowing it down to ten artists.
Among the shortlisted are Biffy Clyro, who were the public vote winners, with their 2013 album Opposites. The double-disk 20 track album shot to number 1 within weeks of its release.
RM Hubbert also makes the cut with his album Breaks and Bone, the guitarist hoping to make it two years in a row following his victory last year with Thirteen Lost & Found.
Other acts to make it onto the shortlist are electronic kings Boards of Canada and post-rock favourites Mogwai. Joining them and bringing in the hip-hop aspect are Hector Bizerk and Young Fathers. Chvrches’ debut album The Bones of What You Believe got the nod, as the Glasgweegian bands popularity soared in the last year.
Edwyn Collins, The Pastels Show and Steve Mason round off the ten nominees. The awards show will be held on the 19th June at the Glasgow Barrowlands.
