smiths-boy-thornMANCHESTER indie pop heroes The Smiths have announced the upcoming release of a new 7″featuring previously unheard tracks.

Featuring cover art designed by Morrissey himself, the unexpected revelation was initially brought to light by fansite True To You who’ve stated that the single will feature a demo mix of  classic track ‘The Boy With The Thorn In His Side’ alongside an alternate take on its original B-side ‘Rubber Ring.’

With the classic versions of the track found on The Queen Is Dead and Louder Than Bombs respectively, the unreleased songs are sure to appeal to those hungering for new Smiths material after Johnny Marr argued that a reunion would be made all the more difficult by his and Morrissey’s ideological differences.

No official release date for the new release has yet been unveiled.
