TENEMENT TRAIL’s New Artist Competition for 2018 officially launches today.

With previous winners including esteemed #TT alumni such as breakout Glasgow punks Rascalton and Edinburgh noise poppers Cheap Teeth, the previous recipients of this accolade have made use of the newfound attention as a springboard to further acclaim and it is hoped that this year’s will do exactly the same.

Awarded to a band that embodies the spirit and ethos behind Tenement Trail, any artist or band based in Scotland and over the age of 18 can apply now through our  new online form as seen below. In order to be eligible to win, all you need to is add a link to your music, email and Facebook page and then our illustrious judges will wade through the entries in order to crown a winner.

The competition officially opens today and will run until Wednesday 5th September at 1pm before the victor will be announced on the following Thursday 13th September.

Chris McCourt, A&R Manager @ Atlantic Records – Chris McCourt is an A&R at Atlantic Records. With nearly 10 years experience in the industry, across stints at Island Records and Atlantic records, he’s worked with Bombay Bicycle Club, Frightened Rabbit, The Staves and Rae Morris, amongst others. We’re happy to have him return this year as a judge for Tenement Trail’s New Act Competition.

Tom Dunne, Booking Agent @ 13 Artists – Tom Dunne works as an agent and booker at 13 Artists who are based in Brighton they represent not only Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys but also Scottish acts like Paolo Nutini, Steve Mason, Rascalton, Spinning Coin, C Duncan, and Simple Minds. Tom is very much on the pulse when it comes to the best new acts out there and we’re thrilled to welcome him as a judge for Tenement Trail’s New Act Competition.

Sam Denholm, A&R Manager @ Big Life Management – Since moving to London in 2014 from Glasgow, Sam Denholm has worked across several companies with a wide range of artists as an A&R. She is currently working for Big Life Management who look after artists such as Bloc Party, Nadine Shah and We Are Scientists as well as a host of songwriters and producers. She has a real ear for recognising great new talent and we’re thrilled to have her back as a judge for Tenement Trail’s New Acts Competition.

Johnny Madden, Public Records – Johnny Madden is the frontman of Glasgow band Baby Strange selling out venues around the UK. He also co-runs independent record label Public Records which will takeover the Priory at Tenement Trail 2018.  As well as these musical projects, Johnny also runs a monthly club night called ‘Club Sabbath’ in Glasgow & London which celebrates the most exciting bands on the scene.
