THE Pogues Irish Whiskey and Academy Events have teamed up to find the UK’s next big rock group. The winning band will receive £3000 towards equipment, along with the opportunity to record and release an EP, guest produced by The Pogues.
Bands from all over the UK are being encouraged to enter with regional heats taking place between 5th and 16th March 2017 in the following O2 Academy venues: Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, Oxford, Sheffield, Leicester and Bournemouth. The finalists from these events will then battle it out at the O2 Academy Islington in London, where they will perform in front of a number of music industry professionals.
Keen to be involved in the launch of a new band’s career, The Pogues have said: “This is our opportunity to foster courageous and original music. If you have what it takes to record with us and perform at the UK’s best music venues, we’d love you to enter. This could be a wholly new and exciting shot at a music career.”
