THE long-awaited big screen sequel to Irvine Welsh’s iconic Trainspotting is slated to begin shooting in May.
Exciting news for music fans and film buffs alike due to its status as a cultural landmark, the follow-up to the 1996 classic is set to feature the same star studded cast as its predecessor and Danny Boyle is set to reprise his position in the director’s chair.
With the sequel set to draw elements from Welsh’s ‘Porno’; the next installment in the chronicles of Renton, Spud, Sick Boy and Begbie, this would mean that certain portions of the film are likely to be filmed in Scotland alongside scenes in various European nations.
With the news coming via a new interview with Ewan McGregor the famed actor has revealed that:
“We start shooting at the end of May.the script only arrived very recently, which was really, really, really good. I think if that had not happened, none of us would be into it. I think we’re all sort of somewhat protective of what Trainspotting means to people, and what it means to us.”
Whilst filming will only be at its formative stages, the news has left us patiently awaiting the upcoming film and wondering whether they can re-capture the magic which emanates from the original.
