TTV’S new film club has announced updated plans for a cult classic screening in Saint Luke’s. Originally set to screen Trainspotting, The Tenement TV Presents: The People’s Film Collective group will now offer a free event featuring a screening of the classic 1996 film Romeo & Juliet, live band performance and DJ to really bring the PFC vibe together.

The Baz Luhrmann film, released 20 years ago in 1996, is a modern and bold re-telling of William Shakespeare’s classic love story is full of guns and guts with Leonardo DiCaprio as Romeo and Clare Danes as Juliet.

Created with a DIY spirit, The People’s Film Collective is brought to you by the people behind Tenement TV, screening cult classics in unusual spaces.

The People’s Film Collective said: “We want to put on great events, bringing together like-minded people for the love of film and music and with a desire to experience something unique. Unfortunatley we had to change the Trainspotting screening due to licensing issues. We aren’t about lying down in the face of challenges and we didn’t want it to stop us putting on an event and getting together for a belter of a night.

They continued: “We are making this event FREE to anyone who would like to attend. Come join us for a night of cult classic cinema, Montagues, Capulets, banging tunes and DJ sets. We want to be a film club with a difference. We aim to celebrate Pop Culture and inspired artistic vision.

Tickets are FREE and available from Event Brite. Entry from 19:00 on 23rd February at Saint Luke’s. Bands and DJ line-up TBC.
