THE
speculation regarding The Stone Roses’ releasing new material this Friday has taken an interesting turn with Ben Green publicly refuting his previous claims.

Often accredited with being the source of the fervour, the Guardian employee has now stated that “Today, I have wrongly become an internet sensation, rumour-monger and – more worryingly – a quoted Gdn journalist.”

Seemingly making light of his claims, Green went on to say that “That said, I did once see Ian Brown in Holland Park. where he lives.”

What’s equally puzzling about these tweets is that they’ve also now been deleted by Green, which seems strange considering they indicate that he’s adamant to profess his innocence.

Additionally, Green isn’t the only source of information regarding the alleged release, with several claims on dontstopforums.com detailing admissions from a variety of different sources and London band The Wholl’s standing strong on their claims that new material is inbound by flippant tweet which read “Just sayin”

In addition to this, the tweets of @banjaxer, a man who’s notoriously been correct in predicting incoming Stone Roses news due to an alleged insider source (previous examples include tweeting about more gigs and major announcements mere days before the revelations of their T in the Park headline slot and Etihad shows), have beena t topic of discussion due to their incredibly cryptic nature in recent weeks.

The 22nd February saw him state that “#stoneroses… New Product… Soon” whilst the next day he remarked that “New songs “the best..better than the best.”

Following on from this, the 28th February was the sight of the infamous figure proclaiming that “you have to be awake” alongside a picture of two lemons whilst he soon mockingly protested his innocence with a clip from Fawlty Towers in which Andrew Sachs’ Manuel proclaims “I know nothing” in an extremely false manner.

Could his comments regarding alterness suggest that new Stone Roses material will surface at an unsociable hour tomorrow morning? only time will tell.

Thus far, Tenement TV’s attempts to contact a spokesperson for the band have led these claims to be neither confirmed nor denied.
